India believes Maoists have required mandate to lead Nepal govt
Kathmandu, May 25 (UNI) India favoured the Maoists leading the new government in Nepal saying it would be in accordance to the mandate of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood yesterday told mediapersons that the Maoists have the responsibility of leading the government by taking on board other parties.
Speaking at a programme after laying the foundation stone of a school building in Arwabijay VDC in Kaski, western Nepal, Mr Sood backed the formation of a national unity government and said this would make it easy to draft a new Constitution.
The people and leaders of Nepal should decide whether the Constitution should be amended to state that a government can be formed or dissolved on the basis of simple majority, the Nepal News quoted him as saying.
