Complaint against Cong candidate in Hamirpur bypoll

Una, May 21 (UNI) The police have filed a complaint against Congress Parliamentary by-election candidate from the Hamirpur constituency, O P Rattan for allegedly violating Election Commission norms and campaigning beyond the 'allocated time'.

According to the complaint, registered at the Santokhgarh police station, a police officer on duty in Sanoli village of Una district noticed that Mr Rattan was seen motivating some voters at around 2130 hrs last night.

As per the complaint, when the police officer informed Mr Rattan that the code of conduct prohibited campaigning after 1600 hrs, the Congress candidate immediately left the place.

When contacted, District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Padam Singh Chauhan said the complaint had been forwarded to the Election Commission for further action.
