India Signs Headquarters Agreement with Global Development Network

New Delhi, May 19 (UNI) India here today signed the Headquarters Agreement with the Global Development Network (GDN) to operationalize the GDN Secretariat in New Delhi.

The Agreement was signed by Dr D Subbarao, Finance Secretary for the Government of India and Dr Gobind Nankani, President of the GDN.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of representatives of development partners like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, UNDP, DFID, JBIC, KfW and the European Commission.

GDN was registered in the USA in December 1999 as an international non-profit network of research and policy institutes for bridging the gap between ideas and policies for development. It subsequently decided to relocate its Secretariat to a developing country and short-listed Delhi, Cairo, Istanbul, Mexico City and Prague for this purpose.

New Delhi's keenness for the relocation of GDN Secretariat to India led to GDN's final decision to relocate its secretariat from USA to India (New Delhi).
