Notification for third phase poll announced

Bangalore, Apr 26 (UNI) The Election Commission today issued the notification for the third and the final phase of elections to the Karnataka Assembly on May 22, for 69 Assembly seats spread over eight districts in the northern region of the State.

With the issue of notification for the third phase, the process of receiving nominations begins.

The districts which go to polls in the third phase include Gulbarga, Bidar, Bijapur, Gadag, Dharwad, Belgaum, Bhagalkot and Haveri.

The respective district electoral officers have also issued the notification for the elections in these districts.

The last date for receiving nominations for the third phase poll is May 3. The scrutiny will be done on May 5, while the last date for withdrawing the nomination papers is May 7.

As many as 400,77666 voters will exercise their franchises for the 224-member Assembly in the three phases. The counting of votes will be taken up on May 25.
