Kings XI Punjab taste first win

Mohali, Apr 25 (UNI) Kings XI Punjab tasted their first win as they defeated Mumbai Indians by 66 runs in the DLF Indian Premier League at the packed PCA Stadium here on Friday night. Kings XI Punjab, co-owned by Bollywood star Preity Zinta, oweed their triumph to team work and an outstanding knock of 94 by Sri Lankan star Kumar Sangakkara.

Chasing a victory target of 183 runs for victory, Mumbai Indians, led by Harbhajan Singh, could muster 116 for 9 in stipulated 20 overs. Australian Brett Lee, rated as one of the fastest bowler in the world, bowled a super spell of 4-0-9-1 to contain the Mumbai Indians' innings. Kings XI Punjab have the best pace attack in their line-up. Besides, Lee, Irfan Pathan (2 for 19) and Sreesanth (2 for 31) also denied Mumbai Indians' any liberty. Spinner Piyus Chawla bagged two for 16. Rohan Uthappa (23), Shaun Pollock (22), Bravo (23) were the main scorers for Mumbai Indians.

Wicket-keeper-cum-batsman Kumar Sangakkara was declared man of the match. He was presented the Man of the Match award by Punjab Governor General (Retd) SF Rodrigues.
