Pandemonium in Puducherry Assembly

Puducherry, Apr 21 (UNI) The Puducherry Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes with Puducherry Munnetra Congress(PMC) member N Anand locking horns with Industries Minister V Vaithilingam and others.

Participating in the discussion on demand for grants for various departments, including Industries and Medical, Mr Anand made some remarks on the relationship between Chief Minister N Rangasamy and his cabinet colleagues, which was vehemently protested by Mr Vaithilingam. With Mr Anand continuing his tirade and the Welfare Minister M Kandasamy, extending support to Mr Vaithilingam, the House plunged into noisy scenes.

Deputy Speaker A V Sreedharan, who was on the Chair, pacified the members and expunged the whole 'objectionable'' portions in Mr Anand's speech.

Mr Sreedharan said Mr Anand will not be allowed to participate in the debate again and invited an Independent member Marimuthu to speak. As Mr Marimuthu began his address, Communist Party of India(CPI) member R Viswanathan pointed out that justice would not be meted out to Mr Anand, if he is not allowed to enter his views into the assembly records.

Following this, Mr Sreedharan allowed Mr Anand to complete his speech in ten minutes.
