Gilani to take oath as Pak PM today

Islamabad, Mar 25 (UNI) Newly-elected Pakistan Prime Minister Makhdoom Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will take oath of office today.

President Pervez Musharraf will administer oath to the new Prime Minister at 1100 hrs (local time) in the Presidency.

More than 500 invitations have been sent to important political and other personalities including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Nawaz Sharif, party President Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples' Party co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari.

After administering the oath, Mr Musharraf will hold a formal discussion with the Prime Minister, the news reported.

Mr Gilani was elected Prime Minister yesterday and immediately ordered the release of judges detained by the President on November 3.

He was elected the Leader of the House in the National Assembly, securing 264 votes against opponent, former Punjab chief minister Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, who only got 42 votes.
