DA hiked for TN Govt employees
Chennai, Mar 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today ordered a hike of six per cent in Dearness Allowance (DA) for State Government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners.
An official release here said that as announced in the State budget for the year 2008-09, the Chief Minister raised the DA from 41 to 47 per cent, payable from January one last.
The Chief Minister also ordered payment of arrears in cash. Owing to the increased DA, the Government would entail an additional expenditure of Rs 136 crore in the current fiscal and Rs 817 crore during the next fiscal.
The Government, taking note of the increase in DA announced by the Centre, had decided to raise the DA for the State Government employees also.
