Uttarakhand Assembly adjourned five times
Dehra Dun, Mar 4 (UNI) Opposition Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLAs continued with their tirade to disrupt the proceedings of the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha for the second day today, forcing State Assembly Speaker Harvansh Kapur to adjourn the House at least five times.
As soon as the Speaker came in the House at about 1100 hrs, Leader of the Opposition Harak Singh Rawat and BSP leader Mr Shehwaz demanded that the issue of caste certificate be discussed first.
The MLAs of both the parties stood on their feet and trooped to the well of the House while some sat on a 'dharna' to mark their protest.
The Speaker tried to convince the agitating members that until the committee's report on the issuance of caste certificates was submitted, the House could not comment on it.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Pant tried unsuccessfully to put to rest the commotion by saying the procedure of issuing of caste certificates was on. The Opposition was however, not convinced and continued to disrupt the proceedings.
The House was adjourned twice for 15 minutes and thrice for ten minutes.
