Rumours about Musharraf's resignation denied

Islamabad, Mar 4 (UNI) The Pakistan Army has refuted media reports that President Pervez Musharraf has been asked to resign from the post and he may do so in two or three days.

The reports had started circulating in the media after the meeting of Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani with President Musharraf.

A private news agency SANA later issued a detailed report claiming it had authentic information but within hours the report was retracted by the agency, The News reported today.

Chief military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas said there was no truth in these reports.

Presidency spokesman Maj General (retd) Rashid Qureshi also denied the reports. A close aide of the President also claimed that these reports had no truth.
