Court permits DNA test on suspect in murder case
Vijayawada, Mar 4 (UNI) The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court here today permitted police to conduct a DNA test on Guruvinder Singh Anand an alleged suspect in B-pharmacy student Ayesha Meera murder and rape case in a private hostel at Ibrahimpatnam on December 27 last year.
Hearing a petition filed by the investigating officer in the case and city west Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) L Vijaya Kumar, magistrate N Raja Prasad Baba directed the police to conduct DNA test on Anand before March 15 by taking him into custody on March 10.
The Magistrate asked the police to produce Anand in the court on March 15.
We have learnt about Anand from various sources and he is a prime suspect in the case. police said.
It was only after Anand's behaviour came to light, the sleuths insisted on conducting a dna test on him. Anand was an accused in four murder cases and was allegedly involved in chain-snatching and dacoities. Arrested at Nanded in Maharashtra, he was brought to Visakhapatnam recently for investigation into a dacoity case at Gajuwaka, police added.
It may be recalled that for the last few years, Anand was reportedly visiting sex workers in and around here, though nothing was found in Ayesha's case, police suspected Anand's involvement, as Ayesha was raped and brutally murdered.
