Work in 900 banks remain paralysed
Kanpur, Feb 25 (UNI) Work in about 900 banks was today paralysed due to staff shortage here.
The bank employees had earlier announced a two-day strike from today to press for their demands.
Even after the late last night talks with the Indian Banks Association (IBA), a large number of bank employees were unaware of the fact that the strike had been called off.
According to United Forum of Banks Union Spokesman, the Forum members are meeting IBA representatives to iron out the differences and resolve the demands, which include dropping of merger of associate banks with the State Bank of India (SBI), wage revision, another pension option and termination of contract employment.
Various unions of the bank employees, including the Uttar Pradesh Bank Employees Association, have welcomed the agreement, which reached late last night in New Delhi.
