Bus catches fire, passengers have miraculous escape

Hoshiarpur, Jan 31 (UNI) As many as 50 bus passengers travelling in a private bus had a miraculous escape when their bus suddenly caught fire near Bahowal, 20 Km from here on Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh road this morning.

According to the police sources, fire suddenly broke out in the bus, bound for Chandigarh from Jammu with at least 50 passengers on board near Bahowal Choe bridge.

Within minutes, flames spread inside the bus. At the time of incident, most of the passengers were dozing off. They were alerted by the fellow passengers. The driver stopped the bus near a service station and all the passengers de-boarded with their baggage largely intact.

However, the fire had damaged the bus badly.

It is suspected that sparking in electric wiring of the bus was the cause of fire, police said.
