Cold spell to continue says weatherman

New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) The cold weather in the capital staged a comeback with minimum temperature tugging to 5.9 degrees Celsius.

With snowfall having reported in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, the ripple effect was being felt here, said the weatherman.

Though the minimum temperature was nearly two degrees more than yesterday's four degrees, still it was two degrees below normal at this time of the year.

Also, the maximum temperature recorded at 18.1 degrees was four degrees below normal, registering winter's grip over the capital.

''This was due to the north-westerlies whose influence is likely to continue for some time,'' said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here.

Predicting a mainly clear sky For the next 24 hours, it added that cold windS would continue its sway over Delhi and the minimum temperature was likely to be around four degrees.
