PM grants Rs 75 lakhs to Institute of Indian Studies in Peking

Beijing, Jan 13 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced a grant of Rs 75 lakhs to Institute of Indian Studies in Peking university here for furthering the centre and its activities.

The announcement was made by Dr Singh when the Head of the University's Hindi department and Senior functionary of the Institute which is functional here for last several decades, Jiang Jinkui, met Dr Singh during his visit to Olympic centre.

Jiang was accompanied by his students during interaction with Dr Singh.

The Prime Minister, during the Beijing Olympic site visit extended best wishes for the success of the Olympic games here this year.

In his inscription on the visitors' book, Dr Singh hoped that the Olympic spirit and traditional hospitality and warmth of the great city of Beijing will promote friendship, peace and understanding among all the participants, and the countries they represent.
