Cong will wrest power in K'taka: KPCC chief
Hassan, Jan 7 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mallikarjuna Kharge today said the party will bounce back to power in the state with an overwhelming majority.
Addressing a public meeting at the party's campaign programme 'Janandholana' here, he said people in the district would put an end to the 'opportunistic politics' of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, who belongs to the district, in the coming elections.
Coming down heavily on the previous JD(S)-BJP coalition government, Mr Kharge alleged that during the 20-month rule, all pro-people programmes, initiated by the Congress, were neglected.
''Due to the indifferent attitude of the coalition government, all Central schemes and developmental packages announced by the UPA Government were not implemented properly,'' he charged.
He said the coalition gave thrust to the development of ''only a few'' constituencies, while the rest of the state was kept out of the process.
Urging the Congressmen to shed their differences and work in unison in the coming elections, he reminded them that the party had suffered political setbacks in the district not due to the popularity of other parties, but because of the infighting in the party.
Former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh, Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajasekharan, former Union Minister C M Ibrahim, former Deputy Chief Minister Sidharamaiah and M Ambareesh, MP, addressed the meeting.
