Sports Court Junks Vinesh Phogat's Appeal Against Disqualification: PT Usha, Vijender Singh React
Soon after the Sports Court announced its verdict on Vinesh Phogat's appeal against disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024, eminent sports personalities started consoling the star Indian wrestler. Indian Olympics Association (IOA) chief PT Usha expressed disappointment at the decision saying the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)'s decision is shocking and saddening.
Former boxer Vijender Singh also said that the sports court's decision is heartbreaking as the entire nation was expecting another medal. Vinesh Phogat defeated the world's best wrestler and entered the women's wrestling finals for the first time. Unfortunately, she was disqualified because she was overweight on day two of the competition.

Sharing the details of the case, the IOA, in a statement, said, "The operative part of the August 14 decision, which dismisses Vinesh's application to be awarded a shared silver medal in women's 50 kg category at the Paris Olympic Games has significant implications for her in particular and the sporting community at large."
