Unhappy Gautam Gambhir Lashes Out At This Former RCB Star
Former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who is also the mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024, was unhappy with ex-Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Bengaluru) star AB de Villiers after he criticised India's finest all-rounder and Mumbai Indian skipper Hardik Pandya for Mumbai Indian's not so good performance in IPL 2024.
Reacting to a conversation between former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen and former South Africa player AB De Villiers, who represented RCB for a long time in IPL, Gautam Gambhir said both players did nothing impressive when they led franchise teams.

"De Villiers and Pietersen's records as captain are also not impressive," he Gambhir said. Taking on De Villiers, Gambhir said the South African star failed to power RCB to win the title. "Except for his own scores, De Villiers has achieved nothing in the IPL," Gambhir added.
"What was their own performance like when they were the captain? I don't think, be it Kevin Pietersen or AB de Villiers, they had any performance in their career with leadership. Nothing. If you pick and see their records, I think they are worse than any other leader. I don't think AB de Villiers has achieved anything in the IPL apart from his own scores. I don't think he has achieved anything from a team's point of view, Hardik Pandya is still an IPL-winning captain. So you should only compare oranges to oranges. Not apple to oranges," unhappy Gautam Gambhir told Sportskeeda in a conversation.
Gambhir recognised the challenges that Hardik Pandya has been facing as a new captain, who replaced Mumbai Indian's five-times IPL-winning skipper Rohit Sharma.
Reports doing round the internet also claimed that many players of Mumbai Indians have still not accepted Hardik Pandya as their captain and a cold war between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya is going on. Many cricket pundits underlined this divide in the team as the biggest reason behind Mumbai Indians' undermark performance.
Still, one should never demoralise a star and talented cricketer like Hardik Pandya, who emerged as a hero on numerous occasions for team India. He is also the vice-captain of India's national side.
