Reflecting on his performance, Axar Patel said, "I got a chance to bat at No. 7 and it helped me understand the wicket. The ball was not coming on and there was unexpected bounce. I tried bowling wicket to wicket. If I have an impact for my team it's the best game for me."

Shubman Gill made a notable contribution with the bat, scoring 46 off 39 balls as India posted a total of 167-8 after being put into bat first. Adam Zampa was Australia's standout bowler, taking three wickets for 45 runs in his four-over spell.
