Rohit Sharma, Wife Ritika Sajdeh Become Parents For Second Time, Blessed With Baby Boy

India cricket captain Rohit Sharma and his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, have welcomed their second child, a baby boy, on Friday, 15 November.

The couple, already parents to their daughter Samaira, born in 2018, have yet to officially announce the happy news.

Rohit took a paternity break to be with his wife during this special moment, missing crucial training sessions in Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The couple managed to keep Ritika's pregnancy largely private, with the news only surfacing recently amidst speculation about Rohit's availability for the first Test in Perth. While his absence could present challenges for Team India, the joy of welcoming a new family member understandably takes priority.

Fans and teammates are keen to see how Rohit balances his familial and cricketing commitments during this pivotal series.

Preparation Despite Paternity Break

Despite being with his family, Rohit has been preparing for the Test series, practising in the nets in Mumbai. Head coach Gautam Gambhir, speaking before the team's departure, said that while Rohit's availability for the first Test remains uncertain, efforts are underway to ensure he could join the team at the last minute if needed.

Divided Opinions on Rohit's Absence

Rohit's potential absence has sparked debate, with former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar suggesting he should relinquish the captaincy if unavailable for the opener. On the other hand, former Australian captain Aaron Finch defended Rohit, highlighting the importance of prioritising family during such moments.
