Not CSK's MS Dhoni! This Royal Challengers Bengaluru Star Is 'India's Greatest Role Model': Navjot Singh Sidhu

Former Indian opener turned commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was famous for his blitzkrieg style of batting and hitting towering sixes, recently applauded India's ace batter, Virat Kohli. During a cricket analysing show, Navjot Singh Sidhu said history will always remember Virat Kohli as the greatest inspiration above all.

Virat Kohli had a lukewarm performance during the T20 World Cup 2024 as he failed to score in league stage matches, but emerged hero in the summit clash. He scored 76 runs off 59 balls laced with six rolling fours and two towering sixers.

Lauding the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star, Navjot Singh Sidhu called Virat Kohli-a man of adversity, a man of masses, a master performer, and a genius. He added that Virat Kohli will be the greatest inspiration for coming generations.

In his illuminated career, Virat Kohli won the U-19 World Cup, the ODI World Cup, and the Champions Trophy, and now added the T20 World Cup to his kitty.

"When it mattered the most when 1.5 billion Indians were praying for India's victory in the nail-biting match, at that time, Virat Kohli stood like a rock of Gibraltar in the sea of ruins. He held his nerves and continued to stick at one end. He steadied India's ship, and scripted the World Cup victory," Sidhu said in Hindi.

"Virat Kohli is the greatest role model that India has ever seen. Thank you, and I salute you," he added.

India vs South Africa T20 World Cup 2024 Final Highlights:

After winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bat first at a flat-looking track amid the threat of rain. His plan was to set a big score first and put pressure on South Africa, however, the decision backfired as Proteas pacers removed the top 3 batters for a cheap total. At a time, it looked like India would not be able to cross the 150 mark, but ace batter and opener Virat Kohli, who was out of touch, suddenly found his form and played a 76-run heroic.

With Virat Kohli's bashing and Axar Patel-Shivam Dubey's cameos, India managed to pin a respectable total of 176 runs on the board.

In the second half of the match, bowlers took the responsibility and restricted South African batters for only 169 runs, which was 7 short of India's score.

Heinrich Klaasen 59, Quinton de Kock 39, and Tristan Stubbs 31 failed to avoid their team's defeat in the finals.
