Ind Vs NZ: Sachin Tendulkar Suggests 'Introspection' After Rohit Sharma & Co. Face Humiliating 3-0 Whitewash

India's cricket team faced a historic defeat, losing 0-3 to New Zealand in a Test series at home. This marked the first time India was swept clean in a three-match Test series on their own turf. The loss dashed their hopes of reaching the World Test Championship final. Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar expressed concern over this outcome.

Sachin Tendulkar took to social media to question India's performance. He pondered whether the defeat was due to inadequate preparation or poor shot selection. He tweeted, "Losing 3-0 at home is a tough pill to swallow, and it calls for introspection. Was it lack of preparation, was it poor shot selection, or was it lack of match practice?"

India's Batting Struggles

In the final match at Wankhede Stadium, India aimed for a consolation win with a target of 147 runs. However, their top-order collapse against New Zealand's spinners highlighted India's batting woes throughout the series. They were reduced to five wickets for just 29 runs within the first 50 balls.

The rest of India's batting line-up fell apart shortly after lunch on the third day. Despite some individual performances, the team's overall batting display was disappointing. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant stood out as positives in an otherwise forgettable series for India.

Gill and Pant Shine Amidst Defeat

Shubman Gill scored a resilient 90 off 146 balls in the opening innings on a challenging Wankhede pitch. Rishabh Pant impressed with his aggressive 57-ball 64 in the second innings. Pant emerged as India's best batter in the series, amassing 261 runs across six innings with three half-centuries.

Sachin praised both players for their efforts against New Zealand's bowlers. "@ShubmanGill showed resilience in the first innings, and @RishabhPant17 was brilliant in both innings— his footwork made a challenging surface look like a different one altogether," he noted.

New Zealand's Historic Victory

Tendulkar also acknowledged New Zealand's remarkable achievement in winning all three Tests in India. This victory marked their first instance of winning three Tests consecutively away from home. "Full credit to New Zealand for their consistent performance throughout the series," Sachin added.

New Zealand's triumph was significant as they had never before won three Tests in a single series, either at home or away. Their success against India underscored their growing prowess in international cricket.

This defeat has prompted calls for introspection within Indian cricket circles. As they reflect on this setback, fans hope for better performances in future matches and tournaments.
