KL Rahul To Shubhman Gill: Check Full List Of India A Players For Duleep Trophy 2024
The 2024 Duleep Trophy will kick off on September 5, featuring a much-anticipated clash between India A and India B. This opening match, set to take place at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, will showcase several regulars from the Indian Test team. Meanwhile, India C and India D will compete in Anantapur.
Shubman Gill has been appointed captain of the India A side as part of his grooming for future national team leadership. Recently named vice-captain for India's ODI and T20I teams during the Sri Lanka tour, Gill is seen as a potential successor to Rohit Sharma. He might also serve as Rohit's deputy in Test cricket against Bangladesh if Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable.

Key Players and Squad Composition
KL Rahul, who has previously captained India across all formats, is also included in the squad. The opening pair for India A remains uncertain, with Mayank Agarwal expected to feature but his partner yet to be confirmed. Gill and Rahul are likely to bat at numbers three and four due to recent changes in their batting positions.
Shaswat Rawat could get an opportunity at the top of the order following an impressive Ranji Trophy season for Baroda. Dhruv Jurel is set to keep wickets after a stellar Test debut against England earlier this year. Jurel's performance earned him the Man of the Match award in just his second Test appearance, making him a strong contender against Rishabh Pant for India's first-choice wicketkeeper spot.
Middle Order and Bowling Attack
The middle-order spot is contested by three batting all-rounders: Tilak Verma, Riyan Parag, and Shivam Dube. Tilak Verma's superior first-class record with a batting average of 50.42 makes him a strong candidate for the number five position.
Kuldeep Yadav leads the spin attack alongside Mumbai's Tanush Kotian, who had a breakthrough Ranji Trophy season. There is a possibility that Parag might be considered as the second spinner, which would allow him to bat at number seven instead of Kotian.
The pace-bowling unit comprises Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, and Vidwath Kaverappa. Akash Deep is likely to secure a spot after an impressive debut against England. Prasidh Krishna should also feature prominently after playing both Tests against South Africa last year.
India A Squad For Duleep Trophy 2024: Shubman Gill (C), Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Vidwath Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat.
