Jasprit Bumrah Surpasses Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan's Best, Becomes First Indian Pacer To Bag ICC Test No. 1 Spot

International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah as the no. 1 bowler in its test rankings. With an outstanding nine-wicket match-winning performance against England at the Vizag Test, Jasprit Bumrah, who was at number 3 position before, jumped to first place in the ICC Test rankings. Bumrah replaced his teammate R Ashwin to bag the top spot.

It is the first time that any Indian pacer has secured the ICC Test No. 1 position. Before Bumrah, the highest rank achieved was the No. 2 spot by legend Kapil Dev. The captain for the 1983 World Cup winning team had secured the number two spot from December 1979 to February 1980.

Another Indian pace and swing master, Zaheer Khan had climbed the chart up to number 3 position in October-November 2010.

With 881 points, Jasprit Bumrah tops the chart, while Kagiso Rabada holds the number two position with 851 points. He is followed by R Ashwin (841 points), Pat Cummins (828 points), and Josh Hazlewood (818) respectively on number three, four, and five positions.

Jasprit Bumrah has also registered his name in the history of cricket as he is the only Indian pacer to reach the number one spot in ICC rankings in all three formats of the game- Tests, ODI, and T20.

In the recently concluded, India vs England Vizag test Jasprit Bumrah dismissed 9 batsmen after allowing only 91 runs of his bowling. Bumrah picked up his tenth five-wicket haul for India in his 34th red ball game. His outstanding performance overshadowed Yashasvi Jaiswal's double hundred and Shubhman Gill's hundred.
