In a significant crackdown on illegal ticket sales, two individuals were apprehended for selling tickets at inflated prices for the much-anticipated IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. The match is set to take place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Upon their arrest, authorities confiscated 56 tickets and a vehicle from the culprits.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Tejaswani Gautam, emphasized the stringent measures put in place to combat the black marketing of IPL tickets. This action followed a directive ensuring all police stations were on high alert to prevent such illicit activities. The arrests were made possible thanks to critical information provided by CST constable Pradeep on April 26.

Police Crackdown on Illegal Ticket Sales
The individuals caught in the operation were identified as Sandeep Natani, 45, from Chaura Rasta, and Chandra Prakash, 26, from Kanwar Nagar. Both areas fall under different police jurisdictions, with Natani being from Kotwali police station's area and Prakash from Brahmapuri police station's. During questioning, they confessed to selling tickets at exorbitant rates, significantly above their original value.
According to police reports, the duo was involved in selling tickets valued at Rs 2,400 for Rs 4,000 and those priced at Rs 3,200 for Rs 5,000. The stark difference in pricing reflects the high demand for IPL tickets and the lengths to which individuals will go to exploit enthusiastic cricket fans. As a result of their actions, an FIR was lodged against Natani and Prakash, charging them with cheating and selling tickets at prices higher than the printed rates. This incident sheds light on the ongoing issue of ticket scalping in major sporting events, prompting authorities to tighten measures against offenders.
