IPL 2025: Munaf Patel, Delhi Capitals Bowling Coach, Fined 25% Match Fees For Argument With Fourth Umpire

Former Indian cricketer and Delhi Capitals bowling coach, Munaf Patel was slapped a 25% fine of match fees for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) Code of Conduct. According to the reports, Munaf Patel had an argument with the fourth umpire during the nail-biting encounter with the Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. The match went to a super over, in which, Delhi Capitals emerged victorious.

Munaf Patel was also handed over a demerit point.

A release by IPL officials reads: "Munaf Patel admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 - which pertains to the conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game - and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."

Reports said that fourth umpire did not allow DC's 12th man, carrying coach Munaf Patel's message for captain, to enter the field during crucial moment in DC vs RR match.

It was totally a 'paisa wasool' match at Arun Jaitley stadium on Wednesday between Delhi and Rajasthan as both teams showcased quality cricket. Batting first, Delhi pinned a total of 188 runs for loss of 5 wickets. Rajasthan also leveled the target in their respective 20 overs after losing 4 wickets, however, couldn't cross it.

Super over was played to decide the winning. Rajathan's Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal could only set 10 runs target, which was chased by Delhi's KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs in only 4 balls.
