IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Rishabh Pant Becomes Most Expensive Player, SOLD To Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 Crore
The IPL 2025 auction saw history being made as Rishabh Pant emerged as the most expensive player in IPL history. Pant was initially sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) used their Right to Match (RTM) card, securing the star wicketkeeper-batter for a staggering ₹27 crore.

Pant's record-breaking bid eclipsed the previous high of ₹26.75 crore set by Shreyas Iyer earlier in the same auction. Iyer was sold to Punjab Kings after a fierce bidding war with Delhi Capitals, making the IPL 2025 auction a spectacle of high-stakes competition.
During his tenure with the Delhi Capitals (DC), Pant became their all-time leading run-scorer, amassing 3,284 runs in 111 matches at a blistering strike rate of 148.93. His contributions included one century and 17 fifties. Despite his stellar performance, DC narrowly missed the playoffs last season, finishing sixth on the points table.
As the IPL 2025 season approaches, Pant's addition to LSG promises to strengthen their lineup and provide exciting moments for fans. The pressure will now be on him to justify his record-breaking price tag and lead LSG to new heights.
