IPL 2025: LSG To Release KL Rahul; Likely To Bid For Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma
For the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), Lucknow Super Giants is all set to release their skipper KL Rahul, claim reports. As per media reports, LSG management is not happy with KL Rahul's performance and he did not get the vote of confidence from IPL team management ahead of IPL mega auction and retentions.
A report published in TOI said, Lucknow team coach Justin Langer and mentor Zaheer Khan, in their analysis, found that the team lost most of the matches whenever KL Rahul played the maximum number of balls. His captaincy skills were also questioned as LSG failed to qualify for the playoffs last season.

Out of 14 matches played last season, KL Rahul and men won 7 and lost 7. They ended the run in the seventh spot in the 10-team competition.
"Lucknow Super Giants mentor Zaheer Khan and coach Justin Langer have analysed KL Rahul's stats and noted that their team almost lost all matches where KL has batted long and scored runs. That indicates that his strike rate doesn't match the momentum of the game. With the Impact Player rule, the scores are getting higher. You can't afford to have someone taking so much time at the top of the order," a top source with team management was quoted by the media house.
The stage for much anticipated IPL 2025 is now set as IPL organizers have announced retention rules. Now teams are churning hard and tying to make a best XI combination of retention, Right-To-Match and fresh purchase at the IPL mega auction 2025.
If speculations are to be believed then LSG may show interest in buying Rishabh Pant or Rohit Sharma as they are looking for a new captain and bid high in the auction, subject to their availability.
