Boycott IPL! Inzamam-Ul-Haq Asks Cricket Bodies Not To Allow Players To Participate In Indian Premier League
Former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has suggested that cricket boards worldwide should consider not sending their players to the Indian Premier League (IPL), if India continues to restrict its players from participating in foreign T20 leagues. He believes that if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn't allow its players to join overseas leagues, other boards should reciprocate by boycotting the IPL.
Indian women cricketers like Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Harmanpreet Kaur have participated in international leagues such as the Big Bash League (BBL), Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), and The Hundred. However, Indian male cricketers are prohibited by the BCCI from playing in overseas franchise T20 leagues.

International Participation and Retirement
Indian male cricketers can only play in foreign leagues after retiring from national duties. For instance, Dinesh Karthik retired last year and subsequently played for Paarl Royals in SA20. Similarly, Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan have joined tournaments like GT20 Canada and Lanka Premier League post-retirement.
The IPL's upcoming season is set to begin on March 22, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This season will coincide with the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which runs from April 11 to May 18. The PSL trophy was recently unveiled in Karachi's coastal waters.
Inzamam's Perspective on Global Leagues
In a local news channel interview in Pakistan, Inzamam stated, "Keep the Champions Trophy aside, you look at the IPL where all the top players from around the world take part. But Indian players don't go to play in other leagues. Hence, all the boards should stop sending their players to the IPL. If you don't release your players for any league, then shouldn't other boards take a stance?"
Inzamam's comments highlight a growing debate about player participation across global T20 leagues. While Indian women have made strides internationally, their male counterparts remain restricted due to BCCI policies. This disparity raises questions about fairness and reciprocity among cricketing nations.
