Anshuman Gaekwad Death News: Watch Kapil Dev's Video Message Before Former Cricketer's Death
Former Indian cricketer and ex-senior men's team selector Anshuman Gaekwad is no more. The saddening news was confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday. Anshuman Gaekwad was battling cancer and was admitted in London's King's College Hospital from last one year.
A few days ago, India's 1983 World Cup-winning team captain and legendary cricketer Kapil Dev shared a heartfelt message, in which, Haryana Hurricane called Anshuman Gaekwad a fighter while extending emotional and mental support.

"You are a fighter! please don't let us down," Kapil Dev had said in his video message. Kapil Dev also shared an anecdote and revealed that he played under Anshuman Gaekwad for many years during the initial years of his career.
However, the latter could not defeat the Cancer and took his last breath on the last day of July 2024.
For his treatment, former cricketers Mohinder Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar, Sandeep Patil, Dilip Vengsarkar, Madan Lal, Ravi Shastri, and Kirti Azad had collected money from their pensions and had appealed from the cricket governing body to extend help.
Within hours of Kapil Dev's request, the BCCI contacted Gaekwad's family and provided them a financial help of Rs 1 crore.
"The BCCI officials will continue to monitor Mr Gaekwad's progress and is confident that he will come out of this phase strongly," India's cricket governing body had earlier said.
