Swargate Metro Station Nears Completion In Pune, 3.34-Km Stretch Expected To Open Soon
After the new terminal at Pune Airport began operations on Sunday, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, shared more good news for Pune residents. On Tuesday, he announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the Swargate Metro Station is almost ready to open.
Mohol stated, "Another 'good news' for Pune residents: The work of Swargate Metro Station is nearly complete!" This announcement has been eagerly awaited by many in the city.

Swargate Metro Station Nears Completion
The initial deadline to start operations from Civil Court to Swargate was March 31. However, the opening was delayed due to the model code of conduct in place for Lok Sabha elections. Despite this setback, progress has continued steadily.
Pune Metro conducted a trial run on this route in February. The train passed through Budhwar Peth and Mandai stations before reaching Swargate. The distances between these stations are as follows: Civil Court to Budhwar Peth is 0.85 km, Budhwar Peth to Mandai is 1 km, and Mandai to Swargate is 1.48 km.
Phase One Completion Imminent
Once this route is operational, phase one of the Pune Metro project will be completed. Currently, the Vanaz to Ramwadi route is fully functional. Meanwhile, the PCMC to Civil Court route is partially operational, pending the completion of the underground stretch to Swargate.
This development marks a significant milestone for Pune's public transportation system. It promises to ease traffic congestion and provide a reliable commuting option for residents.
The anticipation among Punekars is palpable as they look forward to the enhanced connectivity that the Swargate Metro Station will bring. This addition will undoubtedly improve daily commutes and contribute positively to the city's infrastructure.
As Pune continues to grow and develop, projects like these are crucial in supporting its expanding population and urban landscape. The successful completion of phase one sets a promising precedent for future phases of the metro project.
