Woman Stays In Delhi 5-Star Hotel For 15 Days For Free, Know How

A woman was arrested in Delhi for purportedly attempting to defraud a five-star hotel in Aerocity of over Rs 5 lakh by initiating counterfeit UPI payments through an app. The woman checked into the Pullman Hotel near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on December 30 and stayed for 15 days. Subsequently, the hotel filed a police complaint against her at the IGI Airport police station.

Over the course of her stay, the accused allegedly made sham payments to the hotel for approximately 15 days. When confronted by the staff regarding these fraudulent transactions, she allegedly caused a disturbance. During her 15-day residency at the five-star establishment, the woman reportedly incurred expenses exceeding Rs 7 lakh, including a spa bill of Rs 2.11 lakh and a hotel bill of Rs 5.80 lakh.

Despite purportedly using UPI for the payments, the hotel did not receive the funds. Following the complaint by the hotel, the IGI police initiated an inquiry and, prima facie, found evidence of an offense. Consequently, a case was registered against the woman on January 13, leading to her arrest. She was later released on bail.

In a separate incident resembling fraud, a man allegedly prolonged his stay at a five-star hotel in Delhi for nearly two years without making any payments. Collaborating with certain hotel staff, the accused is accused of deceiving the hotel of Rs 58 lakh. This incident transpired at the Roseate House hotel in the Aerocity area of the national capital. The accused, who checked in May 2019, was initially supposed to check out the following month but continuously extended his stay until January 2021.
