Narendra Modi to address joint session of Australian parl next month
Modi will be in Brisbane next month to attend the G20 leader's Summit. Modi is likely to give his speech in Hindi like he always does.
Australian MPs are overjoyed to play host to Narendra Modi. Labor Senator from Tasmania Lisa Singh said Modi's speech in Hindi would mean he was bringing in respect, culture and strengths of India to Australia.
"Addressing our parliament is incredibly dignified moment. I don't mind which language he addresses our Parliament," she said.
She added that if his speech in Hindi meant more respect to the Indian diaspora, then he sould do so.
Modi had taken the US by storm during his recent visit where he spoke at the UN in Hindi and also addressed the Indian- American community at the Madison Sqaure Garden in Hindi.
Other leaders who will be present at the Summit are British PM David Cameron and Chinese president Xi Jinping.
