Money spent on the poor man's food is not a waste: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi slams critics of food bill
New Delhi, Sept 11: Hitting out at the critics of the Food Security Bill, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday, said that, 'money spent on providing food for the poor cannot be termed as a wastage of financial sources.'

He slammed the opposition for criticising the food bill, saying, "Is feeding someone a wastage of money? If it is, then it is fine as we want the poor to stand on their own feet."

Rahul Gandhi was at a function here, where he distributed certificates conferring freehold rights on residents of ressettlement colonies in Delhi. "We are conferring these rights today, which is a sign of development. After the food security legislation, no one in the country will remain hungry," he said while addressing the crowd.
