New Delhi, July 12: Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken voluntary retirement from the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
Posted as Commissioner of IT in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) here, she had sought VRS earlier this year. An official order in this connection has been issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Tuesday.

According to the order, her VRS would be effective from July 15. "Upon considering her notice for voluntary retirement from government service, the president of India is pleased to allow Sunita Kejriwal to retire from government service with effect from July 15," said the order.
The order further said that she will have to "seek prior permission from the government if she wishes to take commercial employment with in one year of her retirement".
She has served over 20 years in the central government so she will be able to enjoy her pension benefits, a government official said.
Sources in the government said that she must have taken VRS fearing her victimisation in the central government.
