Kejriwal's Alarming Claim: BJP To Demolish Delhi Slums If They Win In 2025 Assembly Elections
Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the party of neglecting the welfare of slum dwellers in the city. During a press conference on Sunday, Kejriwal claimed that the BJP only reaches out to slum residents during election time for votes, but has no interest in improving their living conditions, as reported by India Today.

Kejriwal: BJP's 'Disrespect' Towards Slum Dwellers
Kejriwal went further, accusing the BJP of viewing slum dwellers as "insects." He alleged that if the BJP wins the Delhi elections, it would demolish the slums to take control of their land. His remarks reflect the growing tension between the two parties as the election date approaches.
Amit Shah's Controversial Remarks
In addition to attacking the BJP's policies, Kejriwal also took aim at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of using offensive language during a meeting with slum dwellers. According to Kejriwal, the words used by Shah were disrespectful, and he expressed his disappointment over such conduct from a senior leader. Despite these personal attacks, Kejriwal emphasized that he remains committed to serving the people and their honor, not his own, as reported by India Today.
BJP's Election Strategy for Slum Dwellers
Kejriwal's comments follow Shah's remarks at a 'Jhuggi Basti Pradhan Sammelan,' where he suggested that slum dwellers would help uproot the " Aapda" (AAP) government in the upcoming elections. Shah's words indicated that slum residents are expected to play a crucial role in the BJP's electoral strategy.
Slum Dwellers' Key Role in Delhi's Election
With over three million people living in Delhi's 750 slums, slum dwellers are a key demographic in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. They hold significant sway over around 20 constituencies, with their voting patterns proving decisive in the past. In the 2020 Assembly elections, 61% of slum residents voted for AAP, contributing to the party's overwhelming victory, as per media reports.
A High-Stakes Election Battle
As the election date of February 5 nears, both AAP and BJP are ramping up their efforts to win over slum dwellers and other key voter segments. The outcome of this election will likely be shaped by the parties' approaches to governance, with slum welfare becoming a central issue in their campaigns.
