Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Kalkaji, Atishi, has launched a crowdfunding initiative to raise ₹40 lakh for her election campaign.

Atishi Launches Crowdfunding Campaign: A Call for People's Support

Atishi emphasized that AAP has always fought elections with contributions from ordinary citizens, which has allowed the party to prioritize work and honesty in its political agenda. Reflecting on her tenure, she expressed gratitude to the people of Delhi for their unwavering support over the past five years.

Taking to microblogging platform X, Atishi wrote, "Over the past 5 years, you've stood by me as an MLA, a minister, and now as the Chief Minister of Delhi. None of this would have been possible without your blessings and support." She continued, "As a young, educated woman, your belief and donations have enabled me to imagine a career in politics-a path I couldn't have walked alone. Now, as we face another election campaign, I need your support once again."

A Strong Electoral Contest Ahead

Atishi's crowdfunding campaign comes ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on February 5, 2025. The AAP, which has previously won major victories in the last two elections, is aiming for a third consecutive term in the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

In December, fellow AAP leader Manish Sisodia had also launched a similar crowdfunding platform for his election campaign in Jangpura.

BJP's CM Candidate Uncertainty

Atishi also criticized the BJP for not declaring their Chief Ministerial candidate for the Delhi Assembly elections. She cited "credible sources" revealing that the BJP was likely to declare Ramesh Bidhuri, a controversial figure known for his derogatory remarks, as their CM candidate.

Delhi Election Overview

The Delhi Assembly election will take place on February 5, with the counting of votes scheduled for February 8. The AAP will be contesting all 70 seats, while the BJP, which had secured a limited number of seats in the previous elections, is hoping to make inroads. Congress, despite being part of the opposition alliance INDIA, will not be contesting the Delhi elections in alliance with AAP.
