Delhi CM Atishi Claims Centre Cancelled Official CM Residence Permission A Day Before Poll Dates Announcement
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has accused the Central government of cancelling the allotment of her official residence. She claimed this happened a day before the Election Commission announced the Delhi Assembly election dates. This marks the second cancellation in three months for the residence at 6 Flag Staff Road.
Atishi expressed her frustration, alleging that the BJP is targeting her family. "When I became the Chief Minister, the BJP threw my belongings on the road...They can snatch our houses, stop our work but cannot stop our passion for working for the people of Delhi...If needed, I will come and stay at the homes of the people of Delhi and keep working for the people of Delhi," she stated.

Eviction Amidst Investigation
The eviction notice arrived amid an ongoing probe into renovations at Atishi's residence. Initially budgeted at Rs 7.61 crore in 2020, costs soared to Rs 33.66 crore by April 2022. This represents a 342% increase over initial estimates, according to a leaked Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report.
The Chief Minister now faces a choice between two alternative residences: one on Raj Niwas Road and another on Ansari Road in Daryaganj. The situation adds pressure as she navigates both personal and political challenges.
Atishi's allegations against the Central government have added fuel to an already tense political climate in Delhi. The timing of these events has raised questions about potential political motivations behind such actions.
The unfolding events have captured public attention, with many closely watching how this situation will impact Atishi's leadership and upcoming elections.
