K Kavitha Slams Probe Agencies For Handling Of Prajwal Revanna Case

K Kavitha, leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), criticized investigation agencies on Tuesday, stating that actions were not being taken against individuals like Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, while she and others were being arrested.

Media persons were informed by Kavitha while leaving the Rouse Avenue court in New Delhi that investigation agencies were leaving individuals like Prajwal Revanna untouched and were instead making arrests.

Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, is sought in connection with alleged sexual harassment cases. Last month in Hassan, where he is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-JD (S) candidate for the Lok Sabha constituency, thousands of pen drives were reportedly circulated containing videos of his alleged sexual assaults.

Revanna claims the videos were doctored and left for Frankfurt on the day the Karnataka Police established the SIT. He is said to be travelling abroad on his diplomatic passport.

K Kavitha's judicial custody was extended

A money laundering case related to the alleged excise scam had her judicial custody extended until May 14 by a Delhi court on Tuesday. According to PTI, the special judge for CBI and ED matters Kaveri Baweja extended the custody of the Telangana MLC after she was produced before the court upon the expiration of her remand.

The court was informed by the Enforcement Directorate during the proceedings that the investigation was at a critical stage and that it may file a charge sheet against Kavitha within a week. Kavitha's bail plea was denied by the court on Monday in connection with the case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding alleged irregularities in the Delhi liquor excise policy 2021-22.

Special judge Kaveri Baweja dismissed the two bail applications submitted by the 46-year-old MLC from Nizamabad. Kavitha had filed the bail application in the ED case on March 23 and in the CBI case on April 15. The BRS legislator had approached the court seeking relief, arguing that all rules and principles of natural justice were violated when she was arrested by the CBI.
