Gaganpreet Makkad Gets Bail In BMW Crash Case That Killed Finance Ministry Official

A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to Gaganpreet Makkad, the accused in the BMW crash case that claimed the life of a senior Finance Ministry employee.

Earlier this month, 38-year-old Gagandeep Kaur Makkad was arrested for allegedly driving the BMW that struck Navjot Singh (52) and his wife in Dhaula Kuan, Delhi.

Singh, who served as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, died after his motorcycle was hit by the car while he was returning home from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara. His wife also sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Following the crash, the victims were taken by Makkad and her family to a hospital located 19 kilometres from the accident site, bypassing closer medical facilities that could have provided urgent trauma care. This decision became a key focus during the police investigation.

Makkad was subsequently taken into custody, and her judicial custody was extended by a Delhi court until September 27. On the final day of her custody, the court granted her bail.
