Expelled AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa gets SC relief from arrest

New Delhi, Aug 26: The Supreme Court on Friday restrained the Tamil Nadu government from arresting expelled AIADMK MP, Sasikala Pushpa for a period of six weeks.

The Supreme Court also directed the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court to expeditiously hear the anticipatory bail plea filed by Sasikala.

The Supreme Court observed that she is an MP and will not run away.

Sasikala Pushpa had moved the Supreme Court on Wednesday challenging the summons issued to her by the High Court.

A case had been registered by Thoothukudi police against her and her family members for allegedly ill-treating and sexually abusing two domestic aides.

Shashikala had created an uproar when she alleged in party that she was being threatened by her own party workers. The AIADMK had expelled her from the party after she had slapped a DMK leader at the Delhi airport. The party had said that she had brought great disrespect to the AIADMK.
