Delhi's LG's NIA Probe Recommendation Against Kejriwal: AAP Alleges BJP Conspiracy

Reacting to the recommendation of an NIA probe against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, LG VK Saxena was termed "an agent" of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, as reported by PTI.

He alleged that LG Saxena's action was part of a "big conspiracy" against the AAP chief, claiming that LG is considered an agent of the BJP and that this action is viewed as part of a larger plot against CM Kejriwal by them at the behest of BJP, as reported by Hindustan Times. Further, it was claimed by Bhardwaj that the BJP is upset over losing all seven seats in Delhi and had planned this conspiracy even before the Punjab Assembly elections.

Delhi's LG's NIA Probe On Kejriwal: AAP Alleges BJP Conspiracy

A letter was written to the Ministry of Home Affairs by the principal secretary to LG VK Saxena, accusing Arvind Kejriwal of accepting political funding from the pro-Khalistan terror outfit, 'Sikhs for Justice'. It was mentioned in the letter that Saxena's office had received a complaint alleging that Arvind Kejriwal's party had accepted $16 million in return for securing the release of 1993 Delhi blast convict Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar.

In the letter, it was stated that the complainant had a video in which terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party had received the amount between 2014 and 2022. It was claimed in the letter that Kejriwal had met with pro-Khalistan Sikh leaders at New York's Richmond Hills Gurudwara and allegedly promised to facilitate the release of Bhullar, as reported by Hindustan Times.

It was mentioned in the letter that Kejriwal had indeed written to former President Pranab Mukherjee seeking clemency for Bhullar. Arvind Kejriwal, who has been in jail since March over alleged involvement in the liquor policy scam, has faced the latest blow with this development.

The acceptance of kickbacks as donations to AAP in return for formulating a favorable policy for some businessmen and politicians has been accused by the Enforcement Directorate against Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders. The AAP-led Delhi government had scrapped the policy after a CBI probe was recommended into the matter by LG VK Saxena, as per media reports.

Manish Sisodia, an AAP leader, has been in jail since February last year over similar charges. Sanjay Singh, another AAP stalwart, was recently released on bail after spending over five months in jail.
