Delhi Weather Forecast, 30th May: Rain, Thunder And Dust Storms After Sweltering Heat

According to the India Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in Delhi, today there is still a slight warning for heatwaves in some regions. While the temperature won't reach 49°C like many parts of India did yesterday, the temperature may still hover between 45°C to 49°C depending on the region you're in.

Delhi To Experience An Odd Amalgamation Of Weather Today, 30 May:

Delhi Weather Forecast 30th May Rain Thunder And Dust Storms After Sweltering Heat

Delhi experienced rainfall yesterday, after days of sweltering heat. This has given the region some protection against heat waves. Still, northern areas like Jafarpur, Mungeshpur, Najafgarh, Narela, Pitampura, and Pusa may experience high temperatures, going up to 47°C to 48°C. The rest of the union territory will experience temperatures floating around 45°C.

That's not all, though, as Delhi is also predicted to have cloudy skies and light drizzle to provide protection against the heat. There are also warnings of strong winds anywhere between 25 km/h - 35 km/h, which may also turn into thunderstorms or dust storms.

After today, from 31 May till 2 June, thunderstorms and dust storms have been forecast to hit the region alongside light drizzle. The temperature around the region is also expected to lower down, with the highest temperature during the next week going as low as 43°C.

From 3 June onwards, only strong winds during day time have been forecast by IMD, with speeds ranging from 25 km/h - 40 km/h. The minimum temperature throughout the week is also expected to stay above 30°C.

Note About Yesterday's Highest Temperature, 52.9°C In Mungeshpur:

Yesterday, 29 May, news was spread around in the afternoon that Mungeshpur hit 52.9°C yesterday, the highest temperature recorded in the area in history. This was, however, apparently due to an error in the sensor or some local factor, something which IMD is investigating by examining the data and sensors, as reported by the department in a press release.

Until then, the only other record high temperature recorded yesterday was in Ridge, which reached 47.3°C, the highest-ever temperature recorded in the area since 1973.
