Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory for Rajghat and Bharat Mandapam Areas

Delhi Traffic Police has issued a fresh traffic advisory for the national capital, warning of restrictions and diversions near Rajghat and around Bharat Mandapam, along with separate curbs near the Delhi High Court later in February 2026, as authorities prepare for heavy traffic and large crowds.

Traffic will remain regulated from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM around the India AI Impact Expo 2026 venue, while movement near Rajghat is expected to be affected between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Officials said restrictions and diversions may be applied whenever required for safety and smoother flow.

The India AI Impact Expo 2026 reaches its final day at Bharat Mandapam on Saturday, and Delhi Traffic Police expects heavy footfall and dense vehicle movement in the surrounding areas. The advisory cautions commuters that several central Delhi stretches could face congestion during the regulated hours around the summit venue.

Police listed multiple corridors that may see delays, including parts of BSZ Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Nishad Raj Marg, along with important junctions such as ITO Chowk, Delhi Gate, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shanti Van Chowk, Rajghat DTC Depot and IP Flyover, besides nearby arterial roads.

Separate traffic curbs will apply around the Delhi High Court complex from February 21 to 23, 2026, because of polling for the election of 25 members of the Bar Council of Delhi. Voting is scheduled each day between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, prompting special arrangements nearby.

During polling hours, Sher Shah Road will stay closed to traffic from both the India Gate side and Mathura Road side. Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid Tilak Marg, C-Hexagon at India Gate, Zakir Hussain Marg, Sher Shah Road and Purana Quila Road on these dates, with no halting or parking allowed at C-Hexagon and adjoining roads.

The advisory urges residents to plan journeys early, keep extra travel time, and prefer public transport where possible to ease congestion near Rajghat, Bharat Mandapam and the Delhi High Court zone. Authorities have suggested alternate corridors such as Tilak Marg, Sikandra Road and Ring Road for motorists seeking to bypass crowded central Delhi sections.

Drivers have been reminded to follow lane discipline, obey signals and comply with directions from traffic personnel deployed at diversions and barricades. Delhi Traffic Police has also asked commuters to rely on official communication channels for real-time updates about route changes and congestion during the expo and polling days.

Recent enforcement activity has also focused on road safety. On New Year night, December 31, 2025, Delhi Traffic Police carried out a drive against drunk driving at Chilla Border near the Mayur Vihar area in New Delhi, issuing challans to intoxicated motorists found at the check-point, as part of efforts to discourage unsafe behaviour.

In a post on X, Delhi Traffic Police said, "Due to official exigencies, traffic will remain affected near Rajghat from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Restrictions and diversions may be imposed on need basis to ensure smooth movement and public safety." Officials said these measures aim to keep movement orderly while protecting commuters during high-profile events.

With the India AI Impact Expo 2026 concluding at Bharat Mandapam and Bar Council of Delhi polling due at the Delhi High Court, officials expect pressure on central routes through the week. The traffic advisory highlights key closures, possible bottlenecks and alternate options so commuters can adjust plans and minimise delays.
