Delhi: Notorious 'Lady Don' Zikra's Name Surfaces As Suspect In Seelampur Teen Murder Case

The Seelampur area of Delhi is tense following the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy on Thursday evening.

A substantial police presence has been deployed in the narrow alleyways of Seelampur as public protests erupted in response to the murder.

Amid the ongoing police investigation, the name of a notorious figure known locally as a "lady don" has surfaced.

Kunal Kumar had reportedly stepped out around 7:30 pm to purchase milk from a nearby shop when he was attacked.

According to eyewitnesses, five individuals armed with knives ambushed him and repeatedly stabbed him before fleeing into the bylanes of Seelampur's J Block.

Despite being rushed to hospital, Kumar succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The victim's family, along with local residents, have alleged that the attack was masterminded by a woman named Ziqra and her brother Sahil. A manhunt for the duo is currently underway.

"He was my younger brother. He went out just to get some milk. Someone lured him outside. A lady don named Ziqra, who was only released from prison three months ago, is involved," the victim's sister told IANS.

Who is 'Lady Don' Ziqra?

Ziqra, who refers to herself as a "lady don" on Instagram, reportedly used to work for the wife of a gangster but now commands her own gang of 10 to 15 young men.

Her social media account features videos where she is seen brandishing weapons. Just last month, she shared a video online flaunting a country-made pistol. Her Instagram account has amassed over 15,000 followers.

Local residents claim she is often spotted in the area waving a pistol and filming social media reels. She was also seen openly carrying a firearm during Holi festivities.

One such video prompted an FIR under the Arms Act, which led to a short stint in jail.

The murder of the minor has sparked widespread outrage, with residents taking to the streets, blocking roads and holding placards to demand justice for the deceased and his grieving family.

Visuals from the scene showed demonstrators obstructing traffic late into Thursday night and into Friday morning.

Political Row: AAP vs BJP

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has pledged stringent action in the case, although the incident has triggered a political war of words between the ruling BJP and opposition party AAP. Both parties have accused one another of failing to maintain law and order in the capital.

Atishi, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and a senior AAP figure, criticised the BJP for what she described as its inability to safeguard citizens.

"The murder of a 17-year-old youth in Seelampur is yet another example of Delhi's worsening law and order situation," Atishi posted on X.

BJP MP for North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari, dismissed the accusations and affirmed that the authorities were acting swiftly.

"I have been in constant communication with senior police officials in the area since last night. Most of the perpetrators have been identified, and a thorough investigation is in progress," he posted on X.

Additional DCP of Northeast Delhi, Sandeep Lamba, confirmed that the suspects would be apprehended shortly.

"Raids are ongoing. The accused will be arrested soon. The investigation is in full swing," he said.
