Delhi Polls 2025: AAP Govt Launches Initiative To Foster Student Entrepreneurs
In a significant move to nurture entrepreneurship among young minds, the Delhi government has introduced a new initiative targeting college students and those enrolled in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
This initiative, known as the 'Business Blasters Seniors Program,' aims to empower small groups of students by providing them with seed funding of ₹50,000. This financial support is intended to help these budding entrepreneurs launch their own business ventures, thereby fostering a culture of innovation and self-reliance among the youth.

The 'Business Blasters Seniors Program' is not the first of its kind but an extension of a similar initiative previously executed with remarkable success in Delhi government schools. An official announcement from Chief Minister Atishi highlighted the success of the initial program and expressed optimism about its expanded version's potential impact on higher education institutions. This scaled-up effort is set to benefit students across all universities and ITIs under the jurisdiction of the Delhi government.
At the core of this scheme, 1,000 teams, each comprising three to five students, will be selected to receive seed funding of ₹50,000 to kickstart their business ideas. The program doesn't stop at funding; it also includes a competitive element where 100 of these teams will advance to a final round. Here, they will have the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a panel of potential investors. In addition to financial backing, the selected teams will receive mentorship to guide them through the process of establishing and expanding their startups.
Chief Minister Atishi emphasized the transformative potential of this scheme in shifting the mindset of young Indians from job seekers to job creators. She pointed out the paradox of India being home to leaders of major global companies while also grappling with high unemployment rates among graduates, approximately 42%. Atishi criticized the societal and parental pressures that push the youth towards conventional job security, thereby stifiling entrepreneurial ambition from a young age.
Atishi's statement underscored the importance of redefining education's purpose beyond mere job acquisition. She lamented the prevailing fear of failure and aversion to risk among India's youth, contrasting it with the entrepreneurial spirit seen in other countries. "If all our youth join the line to seek jobs, who will create jobs?" Atishi questioned, highlighting the rationale behind the 'Business Blasters' initiative. This program aims to instill confidence in students, encouraging them to take the reins of their future by nurturing their entrepreneurial ventures.
In conclusion, the Delhi government's rollout of the 'Business Blasters Seniors Program' marks a significant step towards cultivating a robust ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship within the educational framework. By providing both financial support and mentorship, this initiative not only aims to reduce unemployment but also to inspire a new generation of job creators.
