Delhi Elections 2025: Akhilesh Yadav, Shatrughan Sinha To Campaign For Arvind Kejriwal's AAP
Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav, along with several party MPs, will campaign for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections 2025. This collaboration highlights the strengthening ties between AAP and SP within the opposition alliance known as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).
The upcoming Delhi Assembly elections present a unique political scenario. While AAP and SP are allies in the INDIA bloc, they face off against Congress and BJP in Delhi. This situation underscores the complex dynamics within the opposition alliance, especially after tensions arose last year.

Akhilesh Yadav's Campaign Efforts
Akhilesh Yadav will join AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for a roadshow in Rithala on January 30. This event aims to increase AAP's visibility as election day nears. Yadav's involvement signifies the growing synergy between SP and AAP, particularly in light of the upcoming elections.
Besides Akhilesh Yadav, other SP MPs will also support AAP candidates. Notably, Iqra Hasan from Kairana will participate in campaigning activities to garner support for AAP in crucial constituencies.
Trinamool Congress's Role
Adding another layer to this political landscape, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Shatrughan Sinha plans to campaign for AAP in three Delhi constituencies on February 1 and 2. This cross-party backing highlights ongoing fragmentation within the INDIA bloc as regional parties seek influence in Delhi polls.
The involvement of regional leaders like Akhilesh Yadav and TMC figures is part of a broader strategy by these parties to strengthen their presence in Delhi's political scene. Their participation underscores regional parties' efforts to assert influence in India's capital.
Impact on Opposition Dynamics
The discord within the INDIA bloc became evident during the 2024 general elections when some opposition parties supported Mamata Banerjee over Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for alliance leadership. Although Kejriwal didn't openly endorse Banerjee, he suggested discussing leadership among alliance members.
This tension has led to growing divisions among opposition parties, particularly in states like Delhi. The backing of influential leaders from Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal could be pivotal for AAP as it seeks to consolidate opposition power against BJP.
AAP has established a strong foothold in Delhi and stands to benefit from support by regional leaders like Akhilesh Yadav and TMC MPs. As they rally around AAP as a primary contender against BJP, Congress finds itself increasingly sidelined.
