Delhi Election: Women Take Centre Stage In BJP's Poll Manifesto; Expecting Mothers To Get Rs 21K Aid

Women are at the forefront of the BJP's welfare initiatives, said Union Minister JP Nadda today as he unveiled the first part of the party's manifesto for the February 5 elections in Delhi.

The senior BJP leader also assured voters that all public welfare schemes would continue in the capital, while accusing the ruling AAP of corruption.

The BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' includes promises such as a one-time financial assistance of ₹21,000 and six nutritional kits for pregnant women, as well as ₹5,000 for the first child and ₹6,000 for the second.

Nadda also announced a Mahila Smriddhi Yojana, under which women would receive assistance of ₹2,500 per month.

Recalling that the AAP had promised ₹1,000 to women in 2021, Nadda alleged that the party had failed to fulfil its promises in both Punjab and Delhi.

The manifesto further promises a ₹500 subsidy on LPG cylinders, along with two free cylinders during Diwali and Holi.

Nadda assured that if the BJP forms the government in Delhi, it would implement the central Ayushman Bharat health scheme in its first cabinet meeting. The AAP government has opposed the scheme, claiming the city already has "superior" health programmes.

Senior citizens would also receive an additional health cover of ₹5 lakh, raising the total health cover for the elderly to ₹10 lakh, according to the manifesto.

A pension scheme was also announced, offering ₹2,000-2,500 for senior citizens aged 60-70, and ₹3,000 for those above 70. Assistance for persons with disabilities and widows would be increased to ₹3,000.

Additionally, Atal Canteens would be established in every slum, providing full meals at just ₹5.

Nadda, who also serves as Union Health Minister, accused AAP's Mohalla Clinics of being "dens of corruption," alleging a scam worth ₹300 crore. He promised that all allegations would be investigated and those involved would face jail once the BJP assumes power in Delhi.
