Delhi Coaching Centre Flooding: Students Demand ₹1 Crore Compensation And Action On Illegal Basements
Several students gathered under the blazing sun to protest, demanding a meeting with relevant officials. The protest follows the tragic deaths of three IAS aspirants in New Delhi's Rajendra Nagar due to flooding. The students are calling for ₹5 crore compensation and action against illegal basement coaching centres.

The incident on July 27 sparked political outrage in Delhi. Students from various coaching centres have since been urging authorities to clamp down on those operating illegally from basements. In Karol Bagh, protesters have threatened an indefinite hunger strike if their demands are not met by 3 pm today.
Students' Demands
When asked about their demands, a student shared a detailed list with OneIndia News. The immediate demands include ₹5 crore compensation specified by Rau's IAS, FIR details including names of culprits related to Rau's IAS administration, proper sections for arrest details involving MCD officials, and a committee report within a specified timeframe. They also demand that basements should not be used for libraries or conducting classes.
Protest Actions
Many students were seen cleaning garbage and sewage themselves, highlighting the neglect by MCD officials. "We want to show them that the people whose job it is to keep the roads clean are neglecting their duties here," one student remarked.
The students insist on meeting five key individuals: the concerned Councillor, Local MLA, MP, Chairman of MCD, authorities of Rau Institute, and a member from the committee formed by the Ministry for this case. They aim to articulate their demands directly to these officials.
The protestors remain steadfast at the site despite harsh conditions. They are determined to stay until their demands receive attention and action from the authorities.
The ongoing protest underscores the urgency felt by students regarding safety and accountability in educational environments. Their persistence highlights significant issues needing immediate resolution.
