Cauvery row: Karnataka cites compliance, says has started releasing water to TN
New Delhi, Oct 4: Karnataka on Tuesday told the Supreme Court that it will comply with the order that directed it to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
Making submissions before a Bench comprising Justices Dipak Mishra and U U Lalit, Karnataka said that it will implement the order that directed it to release 6,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu between October 1 and 6.
Karnataka also said that it had already released 9,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu on Monday night. A quantum of 12,000 cusecs each on Tuesday and and Wednesday will also be released, Karnataka submitted to the court.
Further the counsel for Karnataka also submitted by October 6, the aggregate quantity of 36,000 cusecs of water would be released to Tamil Nadu.

Karnataka cited compliance of the order after the court had on the last date of hearing come down very heavily on the state. The court had said either comply of the wrath of the law will fall on you.
Karnataka had last time cited a resolution of the legislative assembly which decided against the release of water. However, the court said it cannot cite a resolution to disobey the orders of the court.
On Monday, the Karnataka legislative assembly passed another resolution to release water.
